From the time he started coaching the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team in 2013, Karch Kiraly has tallied a 268-55 record. In 2021, Kiraly led the team to its first ever Olympic gold medal and their third straight FIVB Volleyball Nations League title. Under Kiraly, the U.S. has also won the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup and the NORCECA Continental Championship in 2013, as well as the Pan American Cup from 2017–19, among others. While he’s proven to be a skilled coach, Kiraly is also considered one of the greatest volleyball players ever. He’s one of four people to win a world championship as both coach and player, and also won Olympic gold in indoor volleyball (1984, 1988) and beach volleyball (1996). In the sand, Kiraly claimed 148 tournament victories and was named the Association of Volleyball Professionals Most Valuable Player six times.
